Biography 2013-2014

This year I have changed quite a bit. I really worked hard to improve my grades, especially in Math and French. My favorite subjects are still English and Math, but I have started to also enjoy science a lot. This year, I found my hardest subject to be DT, but I already sort of knew that DT might be a problem. This year I tried to talk to my teachers more if I was finding that I wasn’t getting the grades I wanted to achieve. Outside of school, a few of my interests have changed. Music is a big part of my life and the genres that I enjoyed last year morphed into different ones. I have also tried to spend more time with my sisters, especially my older sister as she is graduating next year. I found that I was really able to bond with her over our shared interests such as music and TV shows that we both love. Some of my hobbies include writing, playing guitar, volleyball, baking and singing. Grade 9 started off a little bit rocky as I found that I didn’t have any of my close friends in most of my classes, but I was able to use this to an advantage as I was able to focus more on work. Overall, grade 9 was a really good year and I can’t wait to be apart of the senior school next year.

DPA Final Reflection

This year for DPA I have done several things. Firstly, as seen in the charts that I did volleyball in the first term and as well the volleyball elective. On top of this, I play basketball at home with my sisters whenever it is sunny. As well, I might go for a run or walk or go swimming depending on the weather as well. On average, I do about 30-45 minutes of physical activity each day, but sometimes more or a little less depending on the amount of homework and time that I have. This summer I plan to spend a lot of time outside, swimming, playing basketball, running, walking and other outdoor activities.

Electives

This year I am in Volleyball, Yoga and Art of Today. These are all really fun. In Volleyball, we are working mainly on the basic skills. This is really good because I am able to work on my form and as well it helps get ready for Stars tryouts next month. Overall I am happy with my volleyball elective. My second elective is Yoga. This is a really great elective because I am really enjoying getting to relax and “de-stress”. Lastly, the last elective that I am in is Art of Today. I am really glad I switched into it because I am having fun getting extra art in. SO far we have been doing projects such as logo making which we are printing on t-shirts, New Guinea storyboards and magnet making with bottle caps. I especially like this because there is a lot of leeway as to where your art can go so I can personalize mine.

CAS- MSAC

This post is about my major service commitment. This Year I am doing MCAS. This is my first year doing this and I am really enjoying it. It is a great way to take a leadership role in the middle school. Recently, we put on a haunted house for Halloween. This was a lot of work. It was especially hard to keep the grade 7s and 8s on task. In the end we were all able to work together and put on a great haunted house. Right now me and my co-chair are helping the group focus on Christmas. For this we decided to do a 12 days of christmas theme. After meeting with Mr. Jones we decided to shorten it down to 10 days. So far we have split the entire MSAC group up into 10 groups, each with one or two MSACX leaders. We have started to organize different events for each day such as candy counts and ornament decoration competitions. MSAC is going really well and I am really excited to continue planning and finalizing for Christmas.

CAS Update- Service

So far for my Service commitments I have made some changes. Firstly, I am only doing MSAC for my major service. I realized I was too busy for another long term commitments. I have done two different scorekeeping games and I refereed for one game. I had never refereed for a triple-ball game before, so it was really challenging, but ended up being fine.

CAS Update- Creativity

My creativity commitments are going pretty well. I have not been as committed as I wanted to be because of stuff such as Volleyball and homework getting in the way, but I have started to go to choir more often. I am still doing Choir and Vocal Ensemble this year. I have also done Zoom. This was a great experience for me and I really enjoyed it. My group, although we argued a bit, were able to make a pretty good film and hand it in on time. I am looking forward to doing Zoom again next year.

CAS Update- Action

For my Action commitments, volleyball has ended. I had a lot of fun playing volleyball this year and I got to really improve as a player. In a few weeks, basketball will start. I am most likely going to do basketball, but I have not decided. I want to do a volleyball club, but if that doesn’t work out, I will do basketball. So far my action commitments are going well.
