This year I have been successful. I did many CAS commitment activities and achieved most of my goals.
For my creative, I participated in the Senior School Play: Peter Pan, level 6 piano, and attended WeDay Vancouver 2015. Next week, I will be taking my level 6 piano Royal Conservatory. I will be having to identify triads, as well as be able to sight read a small piece and play a total of five pieces I have been working on. Another creativity I have participated in this year was the Senior School Play: Peter Pan. The experience was amazing an I learned so much from it. We had rehearsals for my group every monday after school until January started and then we started staying after school for longer hours and start practicing with the whole cast on weekends. We had four shows in the second week of February and they all went great! Lastly, I participated in Vancouver 2015 WeDay. We got to go in late October and have many inspiring people come and talk to us, as well as be surrounded by many other children and teachers willing to help change the world too.
For my action, I participated in the school’s Jr. B Girls Volleyball, Grade 8/9 A Girls Basketball, and the U17 Girls Mustangs. For volleyball we practiced 2 times a week, Tuesday morning and Thursday after school, as well as went into a couple tournaments. Participating in the school’s volleyball team since grade 5 has really helped me develop as a volleyball player. I also participated in the Grade 8/9 A Girls basketball team. Getting to be one of the assistant captains was a new experience for me, and it gave me a chance to help work on my leadership skills. Finally, I have also been part of the U17 Girls Mustangs basketball team. Being one of the youngest on the team, it gives me a chance to see what the older girls do and how I can improve myself and get better at the sport. For 4 months this year, I also participated in Acrobatics. I was reviewing all my tricks and balances and keeping my flexibility. I was also planning on doing my level 8 exam, however I did not do the exam, due to the school activities and my schedule getting too busy.
For my service, I was part of the Student Ambassadors. Our job was to help at Open Houses, help new students and essentially be a part of anything that was happening to the school community.
In a couple weeks I am doing my Intermediate theory exam. I have been preparing for since January. I am looking forward to the exam. I have learned various technical movements of piano. Such as; blue scales, rests, chromatic scale, whole tone scale, etc. There are a lot of technical things to remember but it helps a lot especially when playing music too.
This year I was grateful that I got to be a part of the Senior School play this year. Peter Pan. Everyone had a great time preparing for the shows and learned so much. We gained new friendships, new skills, and all improved on our acting and theatre. We had 4 shows: Thursday, February 11th @7:00pm; Friday, February 12th @7:00pm; Saturday, February 13th @2:00pm & @7:00pm. All shows were amazing and we all had a fun time putting on an unforgettable performance for the audience.
This year I am doing piano and I am at level 6 piano. I have already done lots as I have been learning my new piano pieces for my exam as well as advancing my learning in theory. I have also already gotten to go to a recital (our christmas recital) and perform two pieces, one exam piece and a holiday piece. I got to see all my friends who also perform in the recitals and catch up with them.
This year I am excited to have joined the Senior School play. We have an amazing production that we are preparing. The show we are performing is Peter Pan. We have lots of people joining the play. In the play, I have a small role, due to all my other activities that I have going on, I get to be a London Promenade with my sister. We have been practicing on Mondays and we are in a great spot, as the performance is in three weeks. These next three weeks will be chaotic as we will be having dress rehearsal, practicing on after school for most days and on weekends. I am honoured to join the amazing performing arts group as we put on a great show!
Last week on Wednesday October 22 2014, I got to attend We Day along with many other student at Mulgrave. There was 20,000 people to there and it made me realize that we can change and make a differences with all of us helping. We Day was an unforgettable experience. I learned so much through global causes, helping others, education, dreams, and much more. There were so many amazing performers and speakers. Some of my favourite speakers was Selena Gomez, Macklemore and Spencer West. They talked about what we can do better and what they can do better and what they can do. I enjoyed everything about We Day, however my favourite was when Jennifer Lopez came and performed for the grande finale to close up We Day Vancouver. I had an exciting time and can’t wait for next year!
This will be the second time I will be in concert choir. We practice Wednesdays – at lunch (8&9) Fridays -after school (7,8&9). We are going to be performing in 2 weeks with two songs and also be performing at the remembrance day assembly.
for my CAS creativity i am doing piano. I am getting better at piano as i am in grade 5 piano. I also got a new teacher since my former teacher is now doing something else. I feel like i am improving on piano and i can’t wait for the upcoming last bit of weeks.
From May 1-4 the middle school choir and band went to Whistler. There were many highlight from the trip. We also did many activities including scavenger hunt, party and went and watched many other schools perform in their choir or band. For our mulgrave choir we snag 3 songs Stand By Me, Pure Imagination, and No Mali. We went out there and had a blast as well as having an amazing clinic afterwards. Whistler was an incredible experience and if was so much fun!
This week for part of my CAS i am in choir and we are getting to go to Whistler. I am so excited and can’t wait to participate.
