TAKE THE VOW OF SILENCE NEXT WED NOV 23 AS PART OF GLOBAL WEEK. And give a voice to children that don’t have one. Sign up with the Me to We Club in the foyer or on the morning of the vow. The Vow of Silence is Free The Children’s annual fundraising and awareness-raising campaign that engages tens of thousands of participants to stand up for children whose rights are not being upheld. On November 23rd, 2011, we will go silent for 24 hours in solidarity with children who are being silenced by poverty and exploitation. For Vow participants, being silent can mean refraining from speaking. It can also mean not using email, Facebook, Twitter or text messaging. Participants like you can determine your level of silence based on what you’re comfortable with. To join our team, Mulgrave Be Silent, go to the link below and click on the ‘Join This Team’ button to register and help us raise awareness and support children who have no voice. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to Jasmine S (Grade 11) at firstname.lastname@example.org, Angie T (Grade 12) at email@example.com, or Michaela H (Grade 12) at firstname.lastname@example.org. AMNESTY WRITE FOR RIGHTS 2011. Will join us for an inspiring day of letter-writing on December 9th @ Mulgrave in honour of International Human Rights Day on Dec 10th? Every year on International Human Rights Day, tens of thousands of Canadians join Amnesty International supporters in more than 50 countries around the world in an inspiring day of letter-writing. Last year, we wrote more than half a million letters urging that the rights of individuals be respected, protected and fulfilled, and showing solidarity with people wrongfully detained. Our letter-writing last year led to a successful outcome in more than half of the cases featured!
This year on Human Rights Day, Amnesty International is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and we expect this will lead to the most successful Write for Rights ever. More info coming soon from Mulgrave’s Amnesty Club.
