CONGRATULATIONS! Model UN Team, especially Louis K G11. I am very happy to announce that Louis K has won the best delegation award in the Commonwealth committee which means he will represent Vancouver in the Ottawa national commonwealth conference, edging out a very talented St George’s delegate who came second. It is really a remarkable achievement. The delegation of United Kingdom, comprised of David C, Toby R, and Louis K also won the best delegation award, beating several “power” delegations, again including the delegation from St George’s. There were 30 delegations in total int he Commonwealth and 90 delegates in total. In addition, Dina A also received an outstanding delegation award in the Commission on the status of Women. Special thanks to Mr Hardy and Ms Sheh for supervising us and making this trip possible.

TMC // THIS WEEK 4 CITIZENSHIP & SOCIAL GOOD
SEEING RED ON DEC 1. THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF HIV/AIDS…
December 1st – the day advent calendars start and the countdown to Christmas, Hannukah and Kwanzaa begins. It is also the day designated as World Aids Day, giving people across the world a chance to unite in the effort to eradicate AIDS and remember those who lost their battle with the disease. Maggie Betts, the genius behind the new documentary The Carrier, is showing the poignant film online for one night only and the proceeds go to the Global Fund to fight AIDs in Africa. You should also tune in Dec 1 at 10:00 (EST) for a live panel discussion brought to you by The One Campaign and powered by YouTube, featuring President George W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, Bono, Alicia Keys and other leaders in the fight against AIDS.
We’re at a critical time in the fight against AIDS – By 2015, we can virtually end HIV transmission from moms to their babies and help deliver a key milestone for the beginning of the end of AIDS. (RED), and ONE are standing together to help make this possibility a reality. Red is not only a color of power, it is a color of hope – wear it in good health.

BONES 4 PEACE IS STILL ON THIS WEEK @ LUNCH
What if bones could speak? Make a bone for hope, for freedom and for healing. Make a bone to show our connectedness. For every 20,000 bones made and sent in to Students Rebuild, $100,000 will be donated to CARE to help provide emergency relief in the Congo (DRC) and Somalia. This is a creative way, like paper crane making last year, for you to make a difference in the world. Engagement in this initiative over the coming weeks is a great eFolio citizenship or creativity commitment. Check out the clip above or OneMillionBones for more details on this creative protest and call for voices of past atrocities in Burma, Rwanda, Somalia, DRC and Sudan. WANT TO GET INVOLVED? Go to the art room at lunch this week! Check your emails or contact MrW email@example.com.
MULGRAVE DRAGON’S DEN: Meetings are this week and next. If you applied, please check your scheduled times. Thank you everyone for your applications! More than 15 proposals were received for service and change initiatives from clubs and individuals. The next step is the Den and then decisions on how to support everyone. If you want to establish a club, please send Mr Wilson a proposal which includes the name of the club, service objective, start-up organisers, target audience, and why the Mulgrave community needs/would benefit from this new club. If you missed the Den deadline, don’t worry! There will be another Den next term. If you just have to get you pitch heard, please come see me. I can certainly listen and suggest options.

AMNESTY WRITE FOR RIGHTS 2011. Join us for an inspiring day of letter-writing on Fri Dec 9th @ Mulgrave in 1022 in honour of International Human Rights Day on Dec 10th. Every year on International Human Rights Day, tens of thousands of Canadians join Amnesty International supporters in more than 50 countries around the world in an inspiring day of letter-writing. Last year, we wrote more than half a million letters urging that the rights of individuals be respected, protected and fulfilled, and showing solidarity with people wrongfully detained. Our letter-writing last year led to a successful outcome in more than half of the cases featured! This year on Human Rights Day, Amnesty International is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and we expect this will lead to the most successful Write for Rights ever. More info coming soon from Mulgrave’s Amnesty Club.
