5 Days of SAC Christmas is Back!

Posted on December 13, 2020December 13, 2020 by awilson

Hey Upper School!

The festive events during the 5 Days of SAC Christmas are an important part of Mulgrave community building and celebration of school spirit. This is a time for us to all come together, have fun and get ready for the holidays. We also think this kind of celebration is even more important this year in the midst of COVID where staying connected can be challenging.  As always we have a bunch of fun things happening all week from an Ugly Christmas Sweater Day to COVID-friendly Photos with Blow-Up Santa! Check out the schedule below!

The week also gives Mulgrave a chance to support North Shore Youth Safe House programmes of Hollyburn Family Services with a RED AND GREEN Civvies Day on Friday. Come to school in your festive cool for school civvies with a toonie cash donation or use the new online text payment method by sending “studentsgive” to the number 30333 and an automatic $5 donation will be made via your phone bill.

North Shore Youth Safe House (NSYSH) provides short-term emergency housing and support services for youth who are homeless, or live in unsafe and dangerous situations. Staffed 24 hours a day, the NSYSH provides nutritious meals, a clean room and bed, showers, and laundry facilities. The services are designed to help youth return to a home safely or to an alternate living environment.  See video below for more details.

SUPPORT ISOLATED SENIORS
You can also participate in the MCOP Mulgrave Community Outreach campaign to support isolated seniors during the holidays

The SSAC MCOP (Mulgrave’s Community Outreach Program) team is running a holiday themed initiative to support seniors in isolation due to COVID-19 who are not able to visit family members during the holidays. We hope to bring the warmth of the holidays to senior homes virtually through positive and supportive messages, carols, etc through a large video montage.

We are asking all of you to help with this! With your friends and family, you can record a short holiday themed video of you saying a positive message, doing something you are passionate about, playing your favourite sport, singing, dancing and more; it’s really up to you! These videos will only take you a couple of minutes, and will be mixed with other videos from Mulgravians to send to senior homes for them to play and enjoy!

In this google drive you can drop your video (horizontal frame is most preferable) in your designated section. All videos are due by December 18! If you have any questions, do not be afraid to reach out to our G11 team via Ahna @ noormohameda@mulgrave.com

Thank you and we are looking forward to seeing what you all share,

The MCOP Team
Kamran Ahna Mikkah Kate Ryan

UGLY SWEATER DAY
Dress up in your best ugly sweater on Wednesday! The SAC teams will share the best on social media. You are welcome to take photos and share them as well. There will be photo stations set up at the Senior School and Middle School entrances.

PHOTOS WITH BLOW-UP SANTA
What more could you ask for? Santa is at Mulgrave all blown up ready to have a picture with you. There will be a blowup Santa in the front entrance and the MSAC. It’ll be of course be COVID safe following social distancing protocols to keep us and Santa safe!
