Ali McTavish, Outdoor Education Coordinator
Since graduating from UBC with a BSc. in Honours Environmental Science, Ali has worked in environmental education both in Vancouver and in the United States. This led to her pursuing her passion for the outdoors and completing the Wilderness Leadership Program through Capilano University in 2005. Ali has actively explored the outdoors here in BC and around the world; as an expedition sea kayak guide, she has led trips all over the southern coastal BC waters and in Patagonia, Chile. Combining her passions for the environment and outdoor education, teaching is the perfect venue for Ali to share her enthusiasm and energy. She has worked at Mulgrave in the position of Outdoor Education coordinator since 2011, expanding the program to include all divisions in the school by creating exciting options to add to Mulgrave’s already vibrant school life.
Jack Mckillop, Outdoor Education Teacher
Jack joins Mulgrave having completed his B.ed and teacher training at SFU in 2013. He hails from Scotland, where he completed a degree in Law from the University of Aberdeen before practicing in Edinburgh. He then moved to Vancouver in pursuit of a career in education and outdoor leadership. He spent four years in Vancouver, studying towards his education qualifications and working as a guide/instructor in the outdoors, as well as exploring BC on many personal trips. He is excited to begin his career at Mulgrave, and looks forward to combining his passions for the outdoors and socials into his teaching. Outside of the school, if you don’t find him on a mountain or the ocean, he’ll be on his bike, give him a wave!
