This is my last year in Mulgrave.
To be honest, I really do not like high school. But I cherish what I have in Mulgrave.
I am facing depression since last year. But the encourage and consideration from teachers warm my heart, making me feel safe in this environment. Now I have finished what I have to do, and I get the offer from my dream school. I cannot forget the things Ms.Collins and Ms.Noland Wood did to cheer me up, I love them. I appreciate all the help and love I have. I really do.
Thank you, Mulgrave.
I really enjoy geography and ESS(environmental science and society) class due to they can provide the worldwide study. As I said, I love sociology, even I cannot get high marks on these two classes, but I still love what I have learned.
For music, I still think it is challenging and sometimes I even do not know what are we doing. Basically, we need to learn different time period’s works. It requires a certain study of music history as well. Combined musical theory, musical history, and musical performance. This is a really challenging class!
English used to be my priority because my English is not good and we all know IB English has high requirements. But after I had done my IOP and IOC, and the scores satisfied my need. I become less worried.
Math and Mandarin class are not very difficult for me, I can totally handle them.
Envision Vancouver is a non-profit organization that seeks to find a solution to homelessness. We sold the homemade jam to support youth on the streets of Vancouver. The group’s aim is to raise public awareness and it also makes me realize the contribution I can make to society.
We spent nearly 10 hours for making the jams and packaging them.
And I am really proud of what we have done.
This is my final year in high school and Mulgrave, I am so excited about it. I already started to plan my life since summer vacation, and I am looking forward to seeing how much I can achieve. Basically, I planned on two different areas, life and school.
To acheive my CAS this year, I will continue doing what I have done last year. Do yoga and go gym regularly, practice singing weekly. For volunteering, I am hoping to find a new organization which can fit my schedule or maybe start one with my friends.
To maintain high efficient working, I really need to get enough sleeps and get up early to get ready for my day, as well as do some readings before I sleep. With regular workouts, I think my life will become easier and productive.
In general, I will try my best to make my life healthy and controllable. And I hope I can improve my grades then go to my dream university: University of Toronto.
We have a reading week to prepare for final, and I am planning to review two subjects: geography and environmental sciences and societies. The are the weakest subjects I have and I really need to work on it. I missed the whole paper 1 (38 lessons) of geography, so I plan to review 4 lessons a day to catch up. For ESS, I plan to neaten all my notes and search for cases studies.
My geography teach says our predict marks all depend on final, so it worth a trying.
I used to do yoga in China to build my body shape. Yoga is an aerobics exercises and it has lots of benefits, like build body shape, improve your sleep and your body conditions, etc. I personally do not like sweaty sports, so yoga is the best choice for me.
I do yoga twice a week, Wednesday after school at 6 pm and Saturday morning at 9 pm. The yoga practice usually last for 90 minutes, and I get tired at first 2 trying, then I become confident at yoga.
Yoga is not only a sport for me, it helps me to manage my time since the studio’s schedule is fixed, further more, it makes my life become organized. I sleep earlier and wake up earlier, I have to say practice yoga make my life becomes healthy.
I joined a band on April as main vocalist. There are one guitar player, one drummer, one bass player, and one piano player. We practice 2 hours on every Sunday which I personally think it is not a enough practicing time. We are not professional players, we only do this on interests. But we are done practicing one song, the sense of achievement and pride make us want to do more.
We have a performance coming at June 12th, and we been practice for weeks for this show. We prepared two songs, one Chinese rock song and one English pop song called “Counting stars”.
We plan to have our own band after performance, that means we are not going to practice and show up under the control of that private music school but have our personal band. We are still discussing about this thing, but it will be really cool to have our own band.
September is a transition month for me to get into grade 11 study. In addition, I am moving in a new apartment. New environment and new subjects were bringing me new attitude for this year.
Then I joined St.Johns ambulance to improve my first-aid skills.. They help people and our leaders will switch teams and situations to improve those volunteers’ skills. Each class they have different lessons.
I started vocal training and music theory study after I chose music higher level courses. After a while, I joined a band as the main vocalist. Those experiences makes me improve a lot on music skills.
This final will be the biggest one before IB final and I am really nervous. It will mostly deicide which school and which majors I am going to. Now I am just fully focus on review, I am planing to go through all the past exams to improve my testing skills.
The report card came out recently, I did not do great in last two months. It makes me realize how hard to get high grades, and it just destroyed my confidence. I was sad for three days, thinking of how to improve.
When me and my mom have consult time with Ms.Tang, she helped me to look at the report card. She told me to not really worried about first report card but the second one, I did have a lot of space to improve.
Then I aim my self at total score 33, which is achievable and enough for me to get into UBC. This is the first time I have a clear aim at both university and IB score.
